1. Obliged question watching you dancing... How long do you dance salsa? Did you dance other rithms? I have been dancing salsa for 8 years and I never danced any other dances before salsa.
2. Con quién aprendiste? Con quién has bailado?
2. With whom did you learn? With whom did you dance? What can you distinguish from each of your teachers and partners? I did not learn from anyone. I learned how to dance by going to the nightclubs and asking the good dancers to dance. From the different partners I have danced with I like the fact that everyone has a style that is unique and challenging. Each of my partners brings out something different in me and that helps me expand my range as a dancer.
3. Dancing and teaching you travelled for many countries, surely the common factor between all is the Salsa, There are other similarities? What differences are calling your attention? With travels one of the biggest similarities is not just the dance but the passion for the dance. The passion is what helps people overcome small differences in culture, language, religions, age, occupation, etc. Differences are usually more apparent in the style of dancing as well as how people interact with others. In some cities, the people are really friendly and welcoming. In other cities, the people can be more cold and competitive.
Solo sonríe y pregunta a otro.
4. What is to dance for you? What advices would you give to the inicial dancers that, may be gives him shame or feels that he does not know anything to dance floor? Dance to me is a beautiful thing that releases me from anything that could be bothering me. My advice to other beginner dancers is don't be scared of rejection. If someone says "no" don't take it personally. Just smile and ask someone else. Also, try not to think about other people and what they think of you. Dance like no one's watching. Salsa dancing is about you and enjoying yourself. Always try to have fun. With a hobby like this, if you are not having fun, do something else.
5. Where and how do you meet in 25 years? In 25 years is a long time. I would like to say that in 25 years I hope I am still healthy, happy and passionate. And I hope that I am still able to share that happiness and passion - now I share it with the world. In 25 years I may still be sharing it with the world or maybe just a couple of people (depending on how large my family is...hahaha) The point is to keep giving. When you give, you receive and it makes life worth living.
6. According to Magna Gopal, who is Magna Gopal? How would I define myself? Let's see. I am passionate and intense but serene enough to appreciate the moment. I am flexible and accommodating but stubborn enough to stand by what I believe in. I am demanding for what I deserve and always grateful for what I receive. I love with every fibre of my being but also love every fibre of my being so changing who I truly am for love will not happen. I am a teacher by my current profession but will always be an astute student of life. I don't smile to please; I smile because I am pleased. My eyes are windows to my soul so what you see is what you get BUT they are also mirrors to my life so what you give is also what you get.
I believe that what you think of yourself should come out in your actions. Through your actions, the people close to you should be able to say the same about you that you think about yourself so I asked one of my best friends, Anthony Nardolillo, to answer the question.
"Magna, your dance and your movement is a physical translation of who you are as a person: sincere, genuine, passionate, sharp, spontaneous, provocative, intense, genius, friendly, welcoming and innovative."
